OUR STORY.

Ruff Translating was originally founded in 2015 by Ejay on his 50 acre working livestock farm as a low stress boarding option as well as in-home private training.

EJAY EISEN Founder, Director

Ejay Eisen is a seasoned dog professional with 20 years experience in the field. He’s worked at kennels, training facilities, rescue organizations, dog walking companies, doggie daycares, and a pet hospice provider. He has also trained service dogs for military veterans as well as owned and operated a high-end dog boarding and training facility in New York State.

Throughout his career, Ejay has focused on rehabilitation with dogs dealing with often severe behavioral issues, including aggression and anxiety. He is recognized as an exceptional dog trainer by both his clients and colleagues. In fact, he has clients who have continued working with him as their primary trainer using telecommunications, as Ejay’s career led him to explore opportunities in three different states across the country.

Ejay’s innovative approach to training focuses on the relationship between an owner and their dog. He does holistic evaluations to create the most well-informed plan for behavior modification and successful learning. And by using the best tools and all four quadrants of behavior modification to change the way clients communicate with their dogs, the lives of the entire family are transformed. Through Ruff Translating, Ejay’s unique expertise and career accomplishments will elevate the quality of dog training available in Greater Boston and beyond.

CARA WEHMHOEFER Lead Trainer

As Ejay’s first apprenticeship graduate, Cara Wehmhoefer is now an independent trainer with us. Cara teaches private lessons while also coordinating Muttessori Academy. She is an exceptional trainer, with a strong foundation in behavior modification, e collar training, game play, and leash manners, to name a few. Her long-term goals include expanding her skills to include bite work, sport dog training, and advanced behavior modification/aggression rehabilitation. Cara shows exceptional skill and drive, and has already built a loyal client base since completing her apprenticeship. She has cultivated her own training style, drawing on her education, attendance at multiple clinics, and intensive, hands-on training with Ejay.

SAM MARTINEZ Trainer, Social Media Coordinator

Ruff Translating is continuing our apprenticeship program with another novice trainer, Sam Martinez. An experienced dog handler, Sam begins her training with remarkable technique handling large packs and experience using spatial pressure in her work with dogs. As an apprentice over six to eight months, Sam will develop her training skills by working, under supervision, with dogs in the  Muttessori Academy and shadowing private lessons. She also brings two journalism degrees to Ruff Translating and will be helping with our communications and social media.

GEORGE WELCH Adventure Leader, Systems Consultant

With proven dog handling skills, George Welch is our primary Adventure Leader. He also puts his project management experience to work helping us establish strong foundations, processes, and procedures at Ruff Translating. George is well loved by our current clients, and is known for his ability to bond with even the toughest dogs rehabilitated from a history of aggression.

MARIELLE LAJOIE Adventure Leader, Academy Assistant

Marielle Lajoie is a long time animal enthusiast who got her start in working animals through horse care and riding. She has a strong foundation in larger group management from working in dog daycare. Marielle also has a wonderful rescue in training named Benny. Marielle is known for her sunny disposition, her amazing photography work out on Adventure Club. Dogs are drawn to Marielle’s kindness though they also thrive on her ability to keep structure and rules on all of her services.
